Reeds Ridge lies approximately 30 miles southeast of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation purchased what was previously a 633-acre chunk of private timberland taken out of the ruggedly wild Crystal Lake Wilderness Study Area, overseen by the Bureau of Land Management, and conveyed it to BLM.
The transaction not only opens that acreage to public access but also opens the way to nearly 3,000 acres of adjacent BLM-managed lands that previously lacked any formal access.
The landscape is home to a wide array of species ranging from elk, moose and mule deer to pikas, and it is open for all to use and enjoy.
Since 1984, RMEF and its partners opened or improved public access to more than 1.3 million acres of land.
